TX-0 simulation with console panel

Angelo Papenhoff (same as the B compiler guy) has made a TX-0 simulation in Verilog, and a PCB with lights and switches to provide a console. The panel is not an exact replica, but more a generic one for the series of 18-bit computers from Lincoln Labs and DEC. UT3 is an early debugger in the DDT style.

Here’s a short video: Blincolnlights TX-0 running UT3 - YouTube

Angelo sent me a board (the one in the video). I’m interested in adding simulations for these machines:

  • PDP-1X - MIT hacked machine that ran a timesharing system.
  • PDP-9 - DEC’s first microcoded processor.
  • PDP-K - Proposal for a minicomputer that was kind of an extended PDP-11 or half PDP-10.

The PDP-K seems to be only a paper design, it would be nice to see it as
real hardware. I like the orange leds on the console. Intel 3002 bitslice
2 bits wide might be useful for real hardware emulation. Ebay has frew
for sale from Poland.

That’s a nice set of links to memoranda about the PDP-K, thanks! (Although it was “only” a proposal, it was investigated with some care.) From “700325_Programming_Benchmarks”:

The PDP-9/15, PDP-11, PDP-10, and PDP-K coding has been checked or coded by “experts.” No expert could be found for Sigma 2/3, […] it is probable that the coding for this machine (and hence its performance) could be slightly improved relative to the others. System 86 is too new for any experienced people to be available.

There is now a project page:
