Bryan Lunduke on Windows 1.0

There’s an interesting post about the bug tracking within Microsoft’s Windows team. Initially a text file, at Windows 1.01 it became a database… with a 16-bit capacity… which was successively mutated and continued in use for decades.

The database was written back in the days of 16-bit computing, so naturally it had a limit of 32,767 bugs. This was sufficient for many years…

All I can say is, “Yeah, right.”
