I’ve been using computers since the 8-bit days. I started with the Atari 800 and the Apple II. The first computers I owned were a TI-85 programmable calculator, and an Atari 130XE. My first programming language was Basic, but I moved on to C, Java, C++, and C#.
In 2006, I took a dramatic turn away from IT, and decided to take a fresh look at computer science. Since that time, I got familiar with Smalltalk and Lisp. My interest in retrocomputing started with emulation to reminisce, but I’ve found it useful for my CS work, because I find it much less “threatening” than trying to dig into the system components of current technology. I’ve used it as my “playground,” until I outgrow it.
