As far as I know, the TK82-C was the only clone to cause Sinclair to sue. His complaint was against the copied keyboard layout and the pirated ROMs. But patents are not valid internationally - you have to register them in each country you want protection in. So his UK design patents for the keyboard were not accepted by the judge. In the case of the ROMs, software would only start to be protected in Brazil in late 1987 when the copyright law was changed. At the time of the lawsuit there was no way for him to win.
