Just today I came across Preliminary Product Specifications for the Zilog Z70116 and Z70108, which are the same as the Nec V30 and V20 CPUs.
What surprises me is that Zilog at one time tried to be active in the PC processor market.
Were these actually produced?

They were produced - chip collectors know about them!
Some photos here with 1986 datecodes. But also (c) NEC 1984, so a licensed copy - perhaps simply a second source?

I think NEC was a second source for the 8088/8086, so that seems likely.
