According to Wikipedia, the tech was invented in 1970 by Diablo Data Systems, in use by 1972.
(Wow, Diablo, I remember seeing some ads.)
The printouts are dated May 1970.
There were IBM Selectric Typewriter models (with golf ball) than can be attached to a 360 like IBM 2741 and 1050.
But maybe they just type it by hand for the book.
And I also found some fonts with that 4 and also a 7 without hooks.
Code 003, 004, 041, 042, and maybe more.

Another strange thing is that they use in the regular text a slashed O or zero for the letter O like this O̸. And an unslashed 0 for the number 0.
This was pretty common for IBM. I’ve heard people say that, back in the day, you could tell if a programmer was an IBM programmer or a [something else] programmer by whether they slashed their letter-Os or their zeroes.
