I’ve started using AIs to do the opposite of programming, to explain programs! I’ve created a series that I’d love to call the “[Lonely*] Hacker’s Guides” to vintage code. Here are some starter examples:
I find these fun and useful, and Claude Fubar 5 seems to be pretty good at writing them.
Anyway, if you agree this is useful and/or fun, I’m happy to have suggestions about additional code for me to create Hacker’s Guides for, and/or create them youself. (I just hand one of the existing ones and the target codebase to my favorite LLM, which at the moment is Claude Fme 5 – or whatever – and tell it to make me a new one, then I pass the result to a different LLM – ChatGPT or Gemini – to do detail checking.)
Cheers,
'Jeff
(* I’d love to be able to use the name “Lonely Hacker’s Guides”, but I’m guessing that I’d get a C&D pretty quick.)
