Getting to Know dBASE on the Kaypro II

Hi everyone, and Happy Valentine’s Day. In lieu of a box of chocolates, I took a look at dBASE II running on CP/M-80 via Kaypro II emulation in MAME and wrote about it for you. “It’s the thought that counts,” I’ve been told.

It’s my first time touching both dBASE and CP/M, so there was a learning curve for sure. But, to be honest I fell into the groove pretty smoothly and before I knew it I had accidentally become a dBASE programmer. Whoops!

I also take a walkthrough of CP/M add-on peripherals for various systems, like the C64, Coleco ADAM, and BBC Micro. Plus, I reveal the dark secret of those solutions! To make it more scandalous, “What the CP/M Aftermarket Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know!”

Bonus: @jdejonge might appreciate the write-up at the end of the blog, which answers in step-by-step detail the question posted here: Dbase II file export TL;DR: dBASE natively exports comma-delimited data
