Very interesting. I had issues running this on Windows. But It works on Linux.
Do the 3380’s discs have some software on it?
I only could boot and quit. If so, what can I enter?
Or do I have to build another disc? I couldn’t manage to install ximplang under Ubuntu. I downloaded LLVM but I couldn’t compile that probably due to old cmake version. I Installed a new cmake but still showing old version.

If you want to give it a try, on Ubuntu 24.04+ and Debian 10+, you can follow
those commands:
You need to prpapre two shell terminals, one for hercules and another for
IBM 3270 console. I usually just use tmux or have two ssh sessions.
In the first terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y hercules c3270 curl
mkdir emas3 && cd emas3
curl -fL -o emas3.tar.gz https://github.com/FlyGoat/EMAS3-Revived/releases/download/20260911-2/emas3-revived.tar.gz
tar xzf emas3.tar.gz
hercules -f hercules.cnf
In the second terminal, connect to 3270 console:
c3270 -model 2 127.0.0.1:3272
Then go back to the first terminal, enter:
ipl 150
To IPL the system.
From now on, you can interact with EMAS operator console on second
terminal:
It would boot into CHOPUSE and you’ll need to enter:
SLOAD 0 64
To load the supervisor.
Wait for COMMAND:, then start an ERCC01 (user) session:
D/NEWSTART ERCC01
You can then try user commands like `SSVSN` or `FILES`.
To build a hello world in IMP:
QUEUE "%begin"

I have some issues. So all the output is just in the printer log.
When first entering D/NEWSTART ERCC01 it says

Later it seemed to work after starting again. FILES also seemed to work (sometimes).
Not sure about SSVSN.
What shoud be the output? I haven’t found it on either Information card nor on the full manual.
Writing a program in IMP did definitely not work.

I’ve tested it 3 times.
The log and the terminal not showing enough characters.
I tried to start a 2nd user. Same issues. User not found.
IMP not working.
After logging out all users I now had an abnormal termination and a Supervisor crash dump. That is always repeating.
Either the disc files are corrupt or I think not having an IMP compiler included at all.
I will check this later with a fresh set.
