1980 Acorn ATOM just acquired

Hi All,

I spent half of Friday and Saturday at the “Acorn and BBC Users Group” meetup (ABUG) which is about 35 miles from home.

I met up with Ed Spittles and we had several good conversations whilst there.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a 1980 Acorn ATOM which was being offered “free to a good home” on account of it’s tired visual condition and a non-fully working keyboard.

A bit of hydrogen peroxide and UV light will cure the yellowing plastic case, and I am pleased to report that it was only oxidised key-switch contacts that were preventing reliable keyboard operation.

They just needed to be exercised several hundred times to break through the oxidisation and get the contacts clean again.

So it is all fully working - and I am happy as a pig, wallowing in cool, wet mud.

Just grokking the documentation, because I have never owned a 6502 machine before.
